Aakash Bahuguna

Founder & Director

I’m curious about the conditions that allow people and planet to be at their best, and how we might uncover them through exploring the intersection of nature, art and the human experience. After a decade of building Green Care Project and exploring these ideas, we’ve learnt a lot, and yet the curiosity has only deepened.

For me, being near water often brings me into a state where I feel most present, whether surfing in a unique location or simply being in the presence of an expansive body of water. Layer on being with family and friends, or meeting new people and it gets even better.

What I bring to the team

I see my role as guiding our organisation to enable aspirational people to do good with the land. We’re so fortunate to have many passionate people in our team, and many clients who trust us to work with their land to create something genuinely positive for both people and planet. In a lot of ways, it’s about adding logs to that fire and keeping our team connected to the core of why we do this. The motivation that comes from that place is inextinguishable.

Favourite native ecosystem or plants

The ruggedness of wind-swept coastal heathlands and how, within metres, they can complement the softness and calmness of lush coastal rainforests. They are two extremes in many ways, in form, texture and even acoustically. Yet they harmonise perfectly within the same natural system.

Amelia Phelan

Co-Founder, Head of Systems & People

I enjoy creating systems and teams that empower people and business to thrive. With a background in biology, I'm fascinated by the intelligence of natural systems and often look to nature for inspiration.

Outside of work, I love hiking, cooking and spending time with family. I feel most myself when I’m outdoors and love exploring different national parks around the world.

What I bring to the team

My focus is on building the systems, structures and teams that enable Green Care Project to deliver meaningful ecological outcomes at scale.

I enjoy turning complexity into clarity, connecting people and workflows across the business, and using technology to create seamless ways of working so our team can do their best work.

Favourite native ecosystem or plants

The coastal rainforests of Northern NSW. I love the transition from subtropical rainforest to open coastal heathland so close to the ocean. Banksia integrifolia and Acacia fimbriata are two of my favourite plants.

Sanjay Bahuguna

Partner, Relationship Manager

After more than 30 years in international trade and business development, I now enjoy helping clients create landscapes that enrich their lives and stand the test of time. I work closely with clients from the earliest vision through to completion, bringing together great design, practical thinking, and exceptional craftsmanship. Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, meditation and exploring consciousness, architecture, sports, and spending time in nature with family and friends.

What I bring to the team

I help clients turn ambitious ideas into achievable projects by aligning vision, budget, and the design process from the outset. I enjoy building trusted relationships, mentoring our team, and ensuring every client experiences the professionalism, collaboration, and care that define Green Care Project.

Favourite native ecosystem or plants

The ancient Gondwana rainforests of southeast Queensland inspire me with their diversity, resilience, and timeless beauty. My favourite native tree is the Queensland Kauri (Agathis robusta) a majestic species that reflects the enduring landscapes we strive to create.

Andrew Kriyacou

Head of Design

Combining design, construction and horticulture is my passion. I have dedicated over 25 years to designing and delivering beautiful outdoor environments that endure.

I have an innate curiosity to explore and grow towards a life of meaning and purpose. Deeply interested in the intersection of art, nature and the human experience, and feel most at peace in the wilderness.

A leadership style that is built on trust, respect and the love of helping people grow. A desire to use my skills and expertise to reveal to people the beauty and joy of life outdoors.

The open eucalypt forests and woodlands of Giraween. Especially love acacias.

Matthew Bushell

Head of Construction

My work in landscape construction has been shaped by a mix of hands-on experience, running my own business, and a long-standing connection to outdoor spaces. I’m drawn to building teams, refining the way we work, and creating outcomes with a strong focus on quality and detail. Outside of work, I enjoy keeping active, spending time with my wife and two kids, and staying busy with projects around the home.

A practical, solutions-focused approach with a strong emphasis on quality, clear communication, and supporting teams to deliver successful projects. I enjoy refining processes, mentoring others, and contributing to positive outcomes for both clients and crews.

The Australian coastal heathland. My favourite plant is the Banksia integrifolia.

Ryan Eaton

Site Manager

I bring 25 years of nursery experience and 35 years in the horticultural trade. I have a genuine passion for green spaces and horticulture, and a love of travelling the world to explore gardens and natural habitats.

I love all great trees. Planted in the right space, grown with care, thriving with amazing habit and form.

Kate Willans

Practice Manager

Originally from Tasmania and now based in Brisbane, I enjoy creating systems that help people and businesses thrive. Outside of work, you'll usually find me on or near the water, spending time with family, exploring nature, cooking, or planning the next adventure. I'm naturally curious and enjoy finding practical ways to make work more efficient and enjoyable.

A positive attitude, a willingness to lend a hand, and someone who genuinely cares about the people around me. I enjoy learning from others, sharing my knowledge, and doing my part to make the workplace supportive, enjoyable and a little better for everyone.

Favourite native ecosystem or plants

Cool temperature old-growth rainforest, particularly around Pyengana in north-east Tasmania. Childhood bushwalks among the giant trees and waterfalls sparked my love of nature, and Boronia remains my favourite native plant for its beautiful fragrance and delicate-looking, but very hardy flowers.
